Real Madrid's Trent Alexander-Arnold May Face His Former Club in Forthcoming Champions League Clash
The Spanish giants brought in Trent Alexander-Arnold on a long-term agreement
Trent Alexander-Arnold's rehabilitation is advancing well, giving possibility that the Madrid defender might recover in time to face his old club Liverpool in November's Champions League tie.
The 27-year-old player suffered a muscle problem while playing against Ligue 1 club Marseille in the initial phase of the tournament on 16 September.
Alexander-Arnold was forced off the field in the fifth minute, with initial indications indicating a possible absence of around a month and a half.
Real Madrid are scheduled to play at Liverpool on 4 November for the Champions League match—just over a month after the injury happened.
Sources close to the player's condition suggest that the defender's comeback is progressing well, and there is optimism that Alexander-Arnold may achieve his initial appearance to Liverpool's stadium since joining Los Blancos in the summer.
A devoted Liverpool fan, Alexander-Arnold earlier said that leaving the team he entered as a six-year-old youth talent was the "most difficult choice he's ever made."
During his time with the Reds, Alexander-Arnold accumulated over 350 appearances, contributing to secure two English top-flight titles, a Champions League, and the domestic cup.
After his transfer to Madrid, Alexander-Arnold has appeared five times across all competitions, logging 156 minutes of playing time.
