Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for delighting in chaos and insanity with equal glee, all while telling captivating, ideologically themed tales. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose projects have embodied all of those qualities.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' style by having a new setting and ensemble in each season.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.

“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX team always encourages me with their steady trust and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone series. Every instalment is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the nature of society through this intricate and unpredictable viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to partner with Rob and bring our mutual unconventional, visionary style to the audience.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
