FC Barcelona Set to Play First Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host the Basque side in the Spanish league two and a half years after they moved out to allow renovations to start.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized an open training session on the home pitch earlier this month. The club said they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side on 9 December at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
