Canada's Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Against Los Angeles Dodgers
George Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first World Series following 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the final seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, guiding the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 series victory in the series. Next up are the defending champions, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm just so happy for everyone here, our city, Canada," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now connected for twenty-three October home runs, making him third all-time trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another person on planet Earth that I want up in that spot other than Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.
Seattle, who had led the early in the series, remain the only MLB franchise never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" after his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but applauded their efforts this season.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the wrong side of this game," he remarked.
The Blue Jays claimed the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
